When it comes to a folder I prefer a heavy one… I know a lot of guys don’t, but to me a heavy folder feels like you really have something substantial that’s not a toy! Now that’s not to say that a light folder isn’t great; in fact one I really like, is the SOG Aegis, it's light and great quality. But if I had my pick I would prefer a heavier model like the ZT-301 or in this case the new GERBER Manual Combat Folder.

In case you didn’t notice this version of the RD series is the 4 and a half inch version similar to the RD-9 which is 9 inches. I’m fan of the RD-9 so I wanted to give this model a go because it’s pretty much the same knife just with a smaller blade. The handle, pummel and even the blade width is the same only the blade is shorter keeping all the things I liked about the RD9 and just shorting up the blade.

The Gerber tridents are one of Gerber’s top models and have been very popular among military personal. The combo double edge blade can be used for both fighting as well as field work. The blade is similar to a survival knife but the back of the blade is fully sharpened with half saw like serrations.

The Hissatsu is primarily a fighting knife designed by CRKT and James Williams. You may notice the name because James has been the go to guy on the discovery and history channels when it comes to samurai and combat tools and how they’re used. So it’s not surprising that he knows what’s needed in a combat knife.

The CRKT hissatsu is one of the best fighting knives made especially for combat I have ever seen and the folder does not disappoint ether! CRKT and James Williams really have themselves a winner here this folder is one of the beefiest folders I have used. The bolt of the Hissatsu folder is very large and can

The Applegate folder from Gerber is the folding version of the very poplar fighting knife by Broker and Applegate and Fairbairn. The origins of this knife go back all the ways to WW2 where Applegate and Skyes produced what is still considered one of the best fight knives around. But never has there been a folder of this knife

Recently it’s been my pleasure to review three really great knives form Ontario Knives & Ranger Knives, fist up is the smallest in the series the Little Bird. The Little Bird is a very small knife the entire knife comes in at 4 inches so you can see it’s very small indeed! Most people would not see how this knife is useful but to me it’s probably one the most useful knives I have use.

The ranger series knives have worked very well for me and I'm impressed with the quality compared to the price like for instance the RD9 from the Ranger series when you compare this knives to others in its class and then compare the price this knife is far more affordable then most others for what I would say is dam near the same quality.

The RTAK II was the knife that started it all first one produced for the Randall adventure training company and this model is the second Gen of that knife. Because of the environment here in Canada I have found a real need for a large knife similar to a machete but machete's tend to be too light and when it comes to thick heavy trees they tend to have a hard time. So I set out to find a knife that would do the work of a machete, but had a little more weight to it, so one could use it on large trees or even like an axe.

This smith and Wesson 911 first responder knife is the 3rd gen version of their rescue knife. This is the first model I have review so I have no knowledge about the other all I can tell you is about this one. The blade of the 911 is quite good far better than I was expecting. The blade is designed with a rescue hook and serrated edge which is very sharp in fact the knife did not fail to cut anything I tried like seat belts ropes cords and even wires.
