Here is another survival kit I put together my main goal was to try and use products that can be bought from any outdoor or survival shop I tried to keep it simple well trying to cover as many useful products I could find from my gear.
For Light I added 4 chemical sticks, I like the chemical sticks because they come in many different burn times they, also come in many colors if you need a color coating for something and most of all there easy to use and safe for all ages to handle. I added a Olight I10 which is a small one CR123 battery flashlight with very high power for its size and weight And to power this little light I added two soda bottle Performs with three CR123 batteries in each. Why I use flashlights over them shake lights well shake lights give you unlimited power yes with just a shake but there are too many moving parts and I think after some use they will fail before a tactical flashlight will and I only use the chemical sticks and flashlight if I can’t use or make a fire. I also carry a fire steel for making fires now some say matches but there crap they get wet won’t light and most you buy are cheap and only half of them work total waste of money go get a fire steel they last for thousands of strikes they will light a fire even if they are soaked in water and there not much more around 10 bucks and I would never go to the woods without one!
Now for one of the most impotent things in a kit “the knife” with this kit I went a little different I went with SOG throwing knives after using these knives I found them to be a great knife not just for playing around throwing but because they have no handles they can be mounted to a spear you can warp the handle in paracord and use them just like any field knife and most important of all you got three so people in your party can have a knife to use as well to make work go faster and if that wasen’t enough they take up the space and weight of one normal knife so I feel there a great choice for this kit!
For Food I am using a very nice products they are a little heavy but well worth the weight these four packs give you 8 days of food for one person all cut into meal size portions so you can ration them very easy they are called Mainstay Meals and I have review them as well if you want to take a look and for a kit like this I feel there ideal!
To cook any food you catch I have not put pots or pans instead I would use sticks and cook over a fire or I have added 6 feet of tinfoil AKA aluminum foil so you can make small dishes out of it to cook your food if the need arises and I have included a photo of how this is done.
For trapping and getting food I have added my personal fishing kit with a roll of army trip wire for snaring this kit will provide me with not just fish but the means to trap and catch food. I feel fishing is a great way to get food if you trapped or lost because it takes you mind off your trouble and you can focus on just do the task of fishing this is great if you have kids with you or anyone to keep their mind off what is going on if its stress full. The trapping or trip wire is one of my favorite things to carry when I was trapping and buying my supplies from stores like Canadian tire I found a roll of snare wire was around $10 bucks and if you buy the steel it’s like $20 but by going to a army surplus store and picking up some of this trip wire which I have found to be just as good you can save big money most stores sell the tripe wire for around a buck yea 1 dollar for twice the amount you will get at Canadian tire and the trip wire is steel so for the amount you get for a buck you would pay at Canadian tire $40 bucks for steel and the same amount so you can save big there I do!
Next is my full medical kit that I have done a review on what is in it here Medic Kit I put this in because when an emergency happens and your using this kit more than likely you or someone who is with you will be hurt and this kit can keep them stable till you can get help and every survival kit should have first aid supplies.
For water I have added one of my old water hydration pack its 3 liter but the nice thing for a kit like this is it can be folded up very small and packed away till it’s needed along with this I have added a package of water purification tablets in the medic kit there small and compact but you can make a lot of water drinkable with them in an emergency. I have also added some bug spray wipes from Bens as well to protect from flies
I have added an Adventure Medical full survival kit and one of their cool bivys to this kit from along with a second survival blanket one is in the survival kit and I have added a second two man one so you have lots of protection from the weather.
The next is Paracord it’s a staple of all my kits and I never go to the woods without it there is so many uses you have no idea but of all the gear I carry it’s a must have and next to a knife the most useful!
Lastly I want to point out the super box by Explorer case which I have chosen to use in this kit I wanted a kit box that would withstand anything and keep the contents of the kit safe besides if you make up a kit and in a car crash or boat sinking it gets thrown all over and you can’t find it its useless but by using one of these great Explorer cases your kit will withstand a great deal of punishment and will even float if you use it in a boat so this cases is a must to ensure your kit survives so it can help you to do so as well!
All together this kit has two kits in it one I made up and a second adventure medical survival kit as well so I feel its double as good and like the old saying I like to use where “two is one and one is none” I feel it’s a perfect thing to go by when it comes to a survival kit
And lastly I want to thank Explorer cases & www.impactcases.com for helping us to put this kit together to show you thank you very much!
